After a five year hiatus from releasing her solo material, Therina Bella is back with a series of new and previously unreleased tracks recorded at various times over the last decade. She’s planning to release the music one song at a time with an accompanying video over the next few months.

The reason for her absence in the music world?

“Life kinda kicked my ass.” She candidly shares.

Within a span of months, her long term relationship ended brutally, her beloved mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness and passed away, and she was forced to move and start her whole life all over again. Alone.

“It was definitely a bizarre feeling. Like being in the Twilight Zone…questioning this new reality. Everything changed overnight. Coming out of an eight year relationship that ended horribly is difficult enough for someone to reconcile with, but losing my mom and then having to relocate all at the same time just absolutely devastated me. I was catatonic with grief for about a year, just going through the motions of life. Releasing music or finishing my creative projects seemed like the last thing I was capable of doing.”

Life has thankfully settled down since then and after slowly gaining her emotional strength back, Therina is once again putting herself and her music out there into the world.

Her newest release, “Before You Go” is a stark break-up ballad that begins with the lyric, “Go on and kill me if you want”.

Although the verses seem to be sung from a place of absolute defeat, Therina’s choruses soar with resilience and strength proclaiming, “I’ll survive but I know I gotta break this hold.”

The song confronts her former relationship and the abuse she suffered in the months before it ended. “The song comes from this really deep place of strength that I was forced to discover in myself. It’s about being able to abandon whatever dreams or fantasies you may have had with a partner and realize the relationship is poison and you have to get out no matter how painful or frightening it is to do it. Your life depends on it.”
